It is community.
It is networking.
It is a night away from motherhood.

All women have a messy drawer that has all of the tools that we might need at a moment’s notice.
We might not want to show it off but those tools will help us find the solutions we need.
In our Junk Drawer we have all the tools to address and understand gender inequity:
Confirmation Bias
Barriers to Entry
Ambition penalties
Gender Norms
Tokenism
Male Gaze
Double Standards
In Group Bias
Survivorship Bias
Data supports how these psychological principles have been and are used to perpetuate gender inequity.
And we have data that supports gender equality increasing individual, familial and community happiness and functioning and capitalist output.
Yet gender inequity persists and it's hurting everyone.
The persistence of gender inequity is most often found in the subtle sexism we hear and experience every day. In insults, in compliments, in assumptions.
So why are we not talking about the subtle sexism we see?
Because it’s embarrassing. It's hard. It's awkward. But it doesn't have to be. When we talk about awkward things the stigmas dissipate, minds open and we realize we are not alone in our struggles. When women talk about subtle sexism we see the trends and learn that sexism is not women’s problem to solve.

We are scholars and historians who look to scientific research and history to untangle the sticky web of gender inequality.
We are focused on inspiring women to be active participants in their own lives by remembering that they are the heroes of their own stories
